Welcome to the VLDC
The Victorian Leadership Development Centre (VLDC) was established by the State Coordination and Management Council (SC&MC) to promote a sustainable, highly skilled, diverse and professional leadership capacity which consistently meets the needs of the Victorian Government and the community it serves.
The VLDC was established in August 2008 and is governed by a Board consisting of all the VPS Departmental Secretaries, the Chief Commissioner of Police and the Chairperson of the State Services Authority.
Our Functions
In particular the functions of the VLDC are:
- to build leadership capacity across the Victorian Public Service (VPS)
- to develop best practice approaches to leadership development and talent and succession management
- to create a broad and diverse pool of leadership-ready talent
- to establish targeted development, brokering and advisory services
- to establish a "Centre of Excellence" for leadership which grows the VLDC as a shared VPS capability
